Maria Esperanza Vasquez Montellanos, 92, of Athens, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017.
Born in Lima, Peru, she was a daughter of the late Alejandro Vasquez and Aurelia Montellanos. She was a founding member of her community in Lima, and was a professor of arts and crafts. Most importantly, she was a wonderful daughter, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Primo Felix Gomez; one son, Carlos Gomez and siblings, Rafael, Jose, Luis, Victoria, Fernando and Cesar.
Survivors include her children, Alejandro, Carmen, Anna, Norma and Maria; one sister, Yolanda; sixteen grandchildren, Vanessa, Sandra, Sheila, Tony, Jean Pierre, Hugo, Sylvia, Raul, Juan Carlos, Mary, Johan, Sergio, Angela, Jennifer, Katherine and Roger and seventeen great-grandchildren, Omar, Alexander, Ariana, Ethan, Daniel, Savannah, Jasmine, Kevin, Adam, Alessia, Apollo, Sophia, Nicholas, Gabriel and Carlos Jose.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 3, 2017 at 4:30 pm at Lord and Stephens, East. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 until 4:30. Interment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens.
