Margie Escoe Llewallyn, 74, of Winterville, died Friday, February 5, 2016.
Born in Athens, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas Escoe and Lillie Lee Noel Escoe. Mrs. Llewallyn was an entrepreneur, and also worked as a bailiff at the Clarke County Courthouse for over a dozen years. She was a published author, having her book "My True Dreams and Memoirs" published in 1996. Mrs. Llewallyn was well known for being the Winterville Light Lady since 1998, and was a member of the Llewallyn Family Singers from the 1960's to the mid 1970's. She was an active member of East Athens Baptist Church. Most importantly, she was the loving wife of 59 years to Jon E. Llewallyn Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Merven Llewallyn; and two brothers, Thomas Lee Escoe and Herbert Daniel Escoe.
Survivors in addition to her husband include two sons, Jon (Wanda) Llewallyn Jr. of Winterville, and Keith Llewallyn of Buckhead; four grandchildren, Kevin (Ashleigh) Llewallyn of Dalton, Zachary Llewallyn of Charleston, SC, Kelley Llewallyn (Joseph) Benkoski of Statham, and Tyler Llewallyn of Pensacola, FL; three great grandchildren, Bridgette Llewallyn, Brantley Benkoski and Emerson Llewallyn; one niece, Donna Flournoy; and one nephew, Terry Escoe.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 8, 2016 at 2:00 PM at East Athens Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Wuerzer officiating. Interment will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Randolph, Garnett "Bubba" Llewallyn, Duke Llewallyn, Kevin Llewallyn, Zachary Llewallyn, Tyler Llewallyn, and honorary pallbearer, Kelley Benkoski. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home, and Monday, February 8, 2016 from 1:00 PM until service time at the church.
