Margaret (Boyd) Vaughn

Margaret Kennedy Vaughn, 68, of Athens, Georgia passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Vaughn was born in Oakridge, Tennessee on September 9, 1945 to the late Johnie Lester Boyd Sr. and Mildred Dalton Boyd. Mrs. Vaughn was retired from the USDA Agriculture Research Service with 20 years of service. She was a proud member of GWRRA (Gold Wing Road Riders Association) Chapter I-2 of Lavonia, Ga. where she and her husband Ronnie were named couple of the year for 2013. Margaret exemplified generosity and grace and was loved by all who came in contact with her.
Margaret was preceded in death by her siblings, Joe Turner Boyd, Patricia Boyd Parker, and Johnie Lester Boyd Jr. She is survived by her husband of 31 years Ronald Edward Vaughn (Ronnie), Son Todd Kennedy of Baldwin, Ga., Daughter and Son in law Johnna and Mike Garrish of Hull, Ga ., Son and Daughter in law Trey and Melissa Kennedy of Baldwin, Ga., Daughter and Son in law Bobbie and Bob Broussard of Toccoa, Ga., Son Eric Vaughn of Auburndale, Fl., and Son and Daughter in law Chris and Katie Vaughn of Athens, Ga. and 17 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Surviving siblings include Elaine Hallman of Rutherfordton, NC, Ronnie Boyd of Cherryville, NC., Nancy Costner of Cherryville, NC., Libby Mervin of Myrtle Beach, SC.
A memorial service will be held at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East at 3PM on Saturday, December 14, 2013. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 13 from 6 to 8 PM.
