Margaret Percival Patat died peacefully on Thursday, September 22nd in Watkinsville, Georgia at the age of 80.
Peggy is survived by her sister Nancy Raby, children John Edward (Eddie) Patat, Jr. (Pam) and Eleanor Patat Cotton (Jay), four granddaughters: Kelli Patat Thompson (Jake), Laura Patat, Jennifer Cotton and Sara Cotton, and a great-grandson Emory Thompson. She is preceded in death by her husband John Edward Patat, Sr.
Peggy was born on September 7, 1936 in Charlotte, NC to Spencer and Genevieve Percival. She attended the University of Mary Washington, then met her husband Johnny in a boarding house in Atlanta, Georgia, and married soon after. After their son Eddie was born, they moved to Athens, Georgia where they welcomed their daughter Eleanor. Peggy worked at Flowers, Inc., where she was a loyal and dedicated employee for over 40 years. She enjoyed sports (especially UGA Bulldogs and Braves baseball), travel, making jewelry, reading, and games and puzzles. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Lord and Stephens West with Dr. Paul Baxley officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, September 23, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Flowers are accepted or a donation can be made to a charity of your choice.
