Commerce - Margaret Meadow Crumley, 86, of Commerce, formerly of Comer and Colbert, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010. She was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County before her residence at Hill Haven Nursing Home in Commerce. She was the daughter of the late Griff and Maude Lee Smith Meadow and the widow of Ralph Franklin Crumley. She was preceded in death by a brother, Grove Meadow; and a sister, Mabel Morris.
Before her marriage to Mr. Crumley in 1956, she worked as a beautician, in the textile industry and was a homemaker. After their marriage, Mrs. Crumley devoted herself to raising a family and later as a caregiver to her mother. Mrs. Crumley was a joyful person who will be remembered for her caring and loving nature, her generosity and joyful laughter.
Mrs. Crumley is survived by daughter, Rhonda Crumley (Canalos), Athens; two sons, Chet Crumley, Commerce, and Byron Crumley, Comer; son-in-law, Chris Canalos, Athens; daughters-in-law, Tam Leachman Crumley, Commerce, and Lee Ann Crumley, Comer; grandchildren, Caleb and Hannah Crumley, Commerce; sisters, Helen Eckert, Stockbridge, Betty Crumley and June Dean, both of Colbert; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home in Danielsville, Thursday, April 1, 2010, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Comer Baptist Church at 11 a.m., Friday, April 2, 2010, with Rev. Rodney Owens officiating. Interment will follow at Comer Cemetery. The family is at the residence of John and Betty Crumley, 35 Canna St., Colbert, GA 30628.
