Margaret Eleanor Ashmore Carroll on October 16, 2015 entered into heaven and has joined in heaven the two men she loved the most, her husband, Calvin, and our heavenly father, Jesus. Margaret was born on November 22, 1924 in Carroll County, Georgia. Like her two sisters, she graduated as valedictorian of her class at Mount Zion High School in Mount Zion, Georgia. During WWII, Margaret worked as a secretary at the Bell Bomber plant in Marietta. She married her childhood sweetheart, Calvin Carroll, after he returned from his service during the war and spent the remainder of her life caring for her family and others. A lifelong Methodist, Margaret truly supported her Lord and her church with her prayers, her presence, her gifts and her service. When her body failed and prevented her from attending church, she gave new meaning to the term prayer warrior, and constantly lifted up in prayer those she loved. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Maj. Calvin C. Carroll (U.S. Army, retired). The last living member of her family, Margaret was also preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Eunice Ashmore, two brothers, Kenneth Ashmore and Sam Ashmore, Jr., and two sisters, Sarah Gammon and Dulcie Bagwell. She also joins in heaven her beautiful, precious great-granddaughter, Jessica Hawkins. Margaret, or MawMaw as she was called by many, is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Scott and Mary Anne Gordon of Watkinsville and James and Phyllis Oxendine of Madison, and her grandchildren, Scott and Linda Hawkins of Lily, Calvin and Ashley Gordon of Bishop, and Jimmy and Sarah Weller of Durham, North Carolina. Additional survivors include her great-grandchildren Jeff and Julia Hawkins, Drew Hawkins, Jaci Hawkins, and Brandon Hawkins, her sister-in-law, Charlotte Ashmore, a nephew and nieces, including a very special niece, Jackie Bagwell Pate.
