Margaret Blue

October 26, 1928 — April 8, 2017

Margaret Blue, 88, of Athens, died on April 8, 2017. Our mother's death is heartbreaking to us, but our family is blessed that we know she is with her Lord and Savior and is at peace.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Blue, and a daughter, Karen Lee Blue. She is survived by her sister, Doris Emerson; three daughters, Lorrie Lowe (Tony), Martha Blue-Benning (Bob), and Carla Blue (Ken); grandchildren, Jennie White (Brian), Ryan Banning, Josh Banning, Meg Banning, Adam Lowe (Ellaree), Jason Lowe, and Taylor Blue; great-grandchildren, Ellie White, Lena White, and Silas White.
Margaret was born in Berryville, Arkansas in 1928. She married Milton Blue in 1949, and they lived in LA, TN and NC before moving to Athens where she lived the last 50 years of her life. Margaret was a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital for many years and spent the last part of her nursing career with Clarke County Public Health.
The greatest joy in Margaret's life was her family. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with an abiding love that was felt overwhelmingly by each of us. She left us with many, many happy memories that we will each cherish forever.
The second love of her life was nursing, Margaret had the gift of service, and she found great joy in taking care of others and making their lives better.
