Marcia Jean Mulkey

Marcia Jean Mulkey, 72, of Hull, died on Friday, January 13, 2023.

Born in Decatur, GA to the late Charles C. Sexton, Jr., and Frances Hazel Terry Sexton. Marcia lived in Gwinnett County most of her life before relocating to Madison County.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Ray Mulkey, the love of her life.

Marcia is survived by her children: Tim (Tracy) Mulkey, Lynn (Dana) Jackson, and Renee (Jason) Smith; siblings Cliff Sexton, Jr., Deborah Sexton, and Kathy Sexton; grandchildren: Tony (Robin) Coakley, Courtney (Ryan) Simpson, and Kaitlyn (Alex) Mikle; three great-grandchildren on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

Marcia spent most of her career working for Gwinnett County Public School Transportation as a bus driver and later became a supervisor where she retired after 36 plus years. After retiring and moving to Madison County, she enjoyed cross stitching, sitting on the porch, fishing, and feeding the chickens with her devoted husband of 56 years. Later she joined the Madison County Senior Center where she made many new friends. There, she enjoyed putting together puzzles and bingo days. She looked most forward to visits from local gospel singing groups. She loved her family more than anything. She was so excited to become a Great Grandmother to Hunter Simpson, Tate Mikle, and baby Coakley. We will always know we will have two very special guardian angels watching over us.

A celebration of life will be held at New Hope Baptist Church, 1945 New Hope Road, Lawrenceville, GA on Saturday, January 21 at 11:00 am.
