Athens - Mae Alston Whiddon, 84, died May 15, 2007 at Emory Healthcare, Atlanta, GA.
Born in Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Alston and Lena Mae Fleming Witt. She was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Whiddon was also preceded in death by her sister, Edith Dutton.
Survivors include her sons; Vernon C. Whiddon, Jr. of Winterville, Marshall Whiddon of Douglasville, GA; daughters: Deborah Fleming of Athens, Gloria Belvan of Athens, Glenda Smith of Asheville, NC; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held, 3PM, Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Rev. Bill Ricketts officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Phillip Jacobs, Stephen Smith, Jeff Smith, Charles Caleb Fleming, Bobby Whiddon, Frank Whiddon and Michael Whiddon.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 19, 2007 from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund.
