Winterville - Mae Timms Butts, age 87, of Winterville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 4, 2011.
Mrs. Butts was born in Athens to the late William and Berma Timms. She retired from Delmar, Inc. Mrs. Butts was preceded in death by her husband, Robert. Mrs. Butts was a life-long member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a friend to everyone who knew her.
Mrs. Butts is survived by her daughter, Deborah, and son-in-law, Tom, of Winterville; grandsons, Steve Mathews, Dylan (Jennifer) Hogan, and Brandon Hogan, great-grandsons, Trenton Smith, Tyler Hogan, and Luke Hogan; and siblings, William (Pat) Timms, of Toccoa, Fay Nealy, of Colbert, and Sarah Graham, of Denver, Colo. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Butts was "Mama Mae" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Everyone in her community will remember Mama Mae for the delicious cakes she baked and weekly riding on her John Deere Mower. Mrs. Butts was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan.
Funeral Services were 2 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at the Lord & Stephens East Chapel. Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Oglethorpe County First Responders, 96 Owensby Mill Rd., Winterville, GA 30683. The family will be at that address.
