Madge M Wait

Madge Marlin Wait passed away suddenly at her home Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at the age of 91.  She was born on October 9, 1928, in Knoxville, TN to the late John and Irene Darnell.
Madge graduated from Friendsville High School in 1946. She moved to Atlanta and lived there until 1963. She then moved to Laguna Hills, CA where she lived 26 years until her retirement in 1989 as an accountant for an Interior Decorating Co. Madge moved back to Georgia to live in Athens so she could be close to her family. She worked for Belks in Athens for several years and upon her retirement there she volunteered at the Pink Posey Gift Shop at Athens Regional Hospital for many years.
Madge is survived by her three sons, Thomas L. Hogan (Deborah), Winterville, Ga., Dr. John R. Hogan, Huntsville, Al., Delos Edwin Wait, III (Katie), Minneapolis, Mn.  Grandchildren, Dylan Hogan (Jennifer), Brandon Hogan (Kelsey), Steve Mathews (Beth), John Daniel Hogan (Brenna), Adam Hogan, Ashton Wood (William), Shannon Wait, Emily Wait.  Great Grandchildren, Trent Smith, Tyler Hogan, Luke Hogan, Tucker Mathews, Parker Mathews. She loved her family so much especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a special grandma.
Madge enjoyed working in her flower garden and her son’s flower garden across the road. She also enjoyed going to the Oglethorpe County Senior Center. She was a prayerful person who loved the Lord. You always knew she was praying for you every single day. Her family was so blessed to have her as a Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She was blessed with many friends.
Due to health concerns a memorial will be held Saturday, May 9, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. at the home of Tom and Deborah Hogan, 96 Owensby Mill Rd., Winterville, Ga. Family and any close friends are welcome to come.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made in her memory to Oglethorpe County Senior Center, 19 Oglethorpe Dr., Crawford, Ga. 30630.
