Lynda Smith

Lynda Laine Jones Smith, age 66, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at her home in Winterville, Georgia surrounded by family.
She was born on March 31, 1946 in Clarke County to the late Emory Otis and Winona Duncan Jones. She lived most of her life in Oglethorpe County in the Winterville area. Lynda graduated from Oglethorpe County High School. She worked for the General Times, Ranich, and Newell Home Fashion.
In addition to her parents, Emory and Winona Jones, Lynda was preceded in death by her siblings, Lillian Jones, Billy Jones, Ethel Bridges, Vivian Bradberry, Ann McDaniel, Frances Burkhalter, and Grady Jones.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Smith of Winterville; one daughter, Shelley White of Jefferson; and one granddaughter, Katie White of Jefferson. Her other children include Stephanie (Joe) Wray of Carlton, Tracy (Elaine) Smith of Elberton, Selyn (Neal) Wray of Winterville; grandchildren Trevor Wray, Jody Wray, Trinity Smith, Tessa Smith, Colton Smith, Alexis Wray, Bailey Wray; and great-grandchildren Lance Wray, Hailey Joe Burgess, Logan Wray, and Braxton Burgess. Brothers, Robert Jones, Charles (Mildred) Jones, Paul (Vi) Jones, and Clifford (Effie) Jones, and sisters Carol Porterfield and Dorothy Lovett. Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Lord & Stephens, EAST chapel. The Reverends Eric Shelton and Russell Bruce will officiate. Burial will follow in Arnoldsville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shawn Kotch, Colton Smith, Trevor Wray, Gene Wren, Parish Minish, and Phil Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be, Lance Wray, Gab Carter, and Jake Carter. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Friday, July 20 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Georgia Cancer Care, 3320 Old Jefferson Rd., Building 700, Athens, GA 30607.
