Lydia T. Towe, 80, died February 14, 2009.
Born March 14, 1928 in Mingo County, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Charley and Icy Blankenship of Meadow, West Virginia. Mrs. Towe was one of thirteen children and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST with Rev. Hoyt Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Harvey L. Towe, whom she married April 9, 1954. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Jimmy) Green of Colbert; five sons, Harvey (Jean) Towe, Jr. of Athens, Dale (Joni) Towe of Watkinsville, Gary (Rhonda) Towe of Greensboro, Terry (Carrie) Towe and Jeffrey Towe, all of Watkinsville. Mrs. Towe has nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren and many other family members, friends and neighbors.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
