Luther Thomas "Tommy" Bond Jr

Tommy Bond, 70, died Tuesday, October 8, 2013. A native of Athens, born September 27, 1943, Tommy was the son of the late Luther Thomas Bond, Sr. and Ruth Fowler Bond. He attended Athens High School and was in the Army Reserves from 1964 to 1970. He retired as a sergeant from the Athens Clarke County Fire Department after 30 years. Survivors include his daughters and sons in law: Sherry (Wendell) Mathews of the Enterprise Community, Brenda (Mark) McCormack of the Beaverdam Community; sisters: Barbara O'Kelley of McDonough, Patsy Strickland of Fayetteville; grandchildren: Ryan Mathews, Britleigh McCormack, Grant McCannon, Garrett McCormack and great grandchild, Blayden Hall. Graveside services will be held Friday, October 11, 2013 at 2PM at Oconee Hill Cemetery with Rev. Derek Paul officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Athens Clarke County Fire Department and its retirees. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the funeral home. Lord & Stephens East is in charge of arrangements.
