Athens, GA - Luna Smith Chandler, 91, died December 30, 2014.
Born in Barrow County, she was the daughter of the late John Herschel and Luna Haynie Smith and widow of Clement T. Chandler, Sr. A longtime Athens resident, she has been a member of Tuckston United Methodist Church since 1947. She was very active in her community, serving as PTA President, President of Senior Citizens' Club, Treasurer of Beaver Dam Swim Club, member of the Tuckston UMC Silver Bell Choir, President of her Sunday School Class, and Cub Scout leader.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 2, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, 4355 Lexington Road, Athens, Georgia.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 1:00 at Tuckston United Methodist Church with Dr. James Mooneyhan officiating. Interment will follow at Tuckston Cemetery.
Survivors include her sons, Clement T. Chandler, Jr., his wife Judy Chandler of Atlanta and John P. Chandler, his wife Denise Chandler of Marietta; grandchildren, Laura Chandler, Joanna Chandler Ghegan, Parks Chandler, Ashley Chandler and great grandchildren Chandler Grace Ghegan and Wright Ghegan.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Tuckston United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
