Lula Frances Savage Benedict, 97, of Athens passed away on Sunday May 26, 2024. She was the daughter of the late William and Ollie Savage and widow of the late Eddie Lee Benedict. She was also preceded in death by three brothers—Frank, Horace, and Virgil Savage and three sisters—Jean Savage Bell, Nancy Berliner, and Ollie W. Vann. Survivors include her children—Kathy (Darrell) Bell of Bishop, GA, Wayman (Delores) Benedict of Athens, GA, and Mark (Cathy) Benedict of Nicholson, GA; sister Macie Vitug of Maysville, GA, and brother Vernon Savage of Watkinsville, GA; three grandchildren—Danny Bell, Cheryl (Neal) Hallett, and Wendy McElhannon; six great grandchildren—Eliza, Ella, and Emmaline Hallett, Breanna and Isaiah McElhannon, and Kasey Woodall. .
Mrs. Benedict was a member of Johnson Drive Baptist Church, Athens. The family would like to express their appreciation for the love and care their mother received over the past eight years from the staff, and her friends, at Quiet Oaks Health Care in Crawford, GA. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed by everyone!
A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday May 29, 2024 at 1 PM at New Prospect Church cemetery 334 Prospect Church Road Athens, GA with Rev. Jeff Wells and Rev. Anthony Watts officiating. The family will receive friends at Lord & Stephens East from 11 AM to 12:15 PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
