Lucy Payne Hawkes, 91, wife of the late Garnett Hawkes, died Sunday, September 28, 2014.
A native of Oglethorpe County, she was the daughter of the late George and Sally Evans Payne. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings. Willie, Walt, Dewitt, G.W. and Russell Payne, Ina McCannon, Nora Payne, Judy Archer, Mary Lou Wright and Era Cook. She was a member of Bogart Methodist Church and had worked as a seamstress at Statham Garment Mill.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 11AM at Lord & Stephens West Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her family and friends of Mulberry Grove and Gentiva Hospice of Athens Regional Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
Lord and Stephens West is in charge of arrangements.
