Lloyd B. Colquitt, 84, of Lexington, passed away at his residence on Friday, July 15, 2011. He was born on December 31, 1926, the son of Onnie L. and Mamie Lou Willoughby Colquitt. He was preceded in death by sister Mary Lou Bridges and Brother Robert Willis Colquitt. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha Thaxton Colquitt; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Donald Chandler; brother, Floyd Daniel Colquitt; sister, Aletha Taylor; several nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of WWII, proudly serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Grimes and was in Tokyo Bay at the signing of the articles of surrender. The services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2011 from the Lord & Stephens East Chapel with the visitation to follow. A private burial will be held later. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter. Lord & Stephens East Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
