Lexington - Louie Carl Duke, age 79, died July 23, 2006 in Lexington. He was a retired LCDR in the U.S. Navy having proudly served for 24 years in WWII, Korea, Cuban Blockade and Vietnam. Mr. Duke returned to his native state of Mississippi after retiring from the Navy and pursued many careers and adventures. He was adored and known as ìTrader Louie,î raising many of the Greenville, MS area local teens in his music store with his wife, Sylvia. His humor, zest for life and lessons of life are the legacy he leaves behind. Through his stories he touched the lives of everyone he met. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sylvia Duke of Indianola, MS; his sister, Ermadean Nichols of Indianola, MS; sisters-in-law, Nadine and Peggy Duke of Belzoni, MS; his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Ronnie Boggs of Lexington, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Louie and Patricia Duke of Decatur, AL; his grandchildren, Jesse and Brandy Potter, Leanne, Josh and Justin Duke and Maggie McKasson; also step-grandchildren, Jeff and wife Amanda and Jon McKasson. He also leaves 3 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren and numerous adoring nieces and nephews. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Isola First Baptist Church in Isola, MS on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 10 AM. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers those who desire may make contributions to the American Cancer Society of The American Heart Association. Lord & Stephens, EAST, is in charge of local arrangements.
