Lorene Hoard Toney

Athens - Ms. Lorene Hoard Toney, 86, of Athens, died Sunday, December 5, 2010. Born in Homer, Ms. Toney was a daughter of the late Lon and Emma Westbrook Gowder. She had worked with Thomas Textiles, General Times and cared for elderly people as a private in-home health care provider. Ms. Toney was a charter member at Central Baptist Church in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husbands, Charles Adams, Albert Lee Hoard, and R.T. Toney.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 7 at the Lord & Stephens West Chapel, with Dr. Joel Dover officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service.
Survivors include sons, Clifford Gene (Barbara Ann) Adams of Overland Park, Kan., and Charles (Carolyn) Adams of Athens; a brother, Billy Gowder of Athens; a sister, Ester Whitlock of Homer; grandchildren, Clifford Gene Adams, Jr., David Scott Adams, Melissa Kim Keller, and a number of other relatives.
