Lonnie D. Mattox, 89, husband of Hazel Queen Mattox, died Friday, June 20, 2014.
A native of Oglethorpe, he was the son of the late Jim and Eula Bray Mattox. He was also preceded in death by his son: Jimmy Mattox and brothers: Marcus Mattox and James Mattox, Jr. He was a farmer.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children and their spouses: Ann and Buddy Hill of Lexington, Roy and Lou Mattox of Lexington, Robert and Mary Ann Mattox of Norlina, NC; eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Monday, June 23, 2014 at 10AM at Bray Cemetery with Rev. Dean Gibby officiating. Pallbearers will be Greg Mattox, Jimmy Mattox, Bobby Mattox, Patrick Butler, Peyton Carlisle and Jerry Bray.
The family will receive friends Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
Lord & Stephens Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
