Lisa Kay Ward, 53, died Sunday, November 4, 2012.
A native of Oconee County, she was the daughter of Martha Bridges Ward Daniel of Athens and the late Weyman Thomas Ward. She graduated from Oconee County High School in 1976, UGA Terry College of Business and Air Force ROTC program in 1980. Later she attained a Masters of Science and Management degree from Georgia Institute of Technology. She achieved the rank of Captain in the US Air Force and was a Disabled Veteran. She lived and worked in Europe and each end of the United States. She was in the OCHS marching band but the highlight of her life was her participation in the UGA Redcoat band. She was fierce in her love for animals. Rescueing cats and dogs was her passion.
Survivors include her mother; Martha Ward Daniel, her stepfather Robert F. Daniel of Athens; sisters: Paige Ward of Watkinsville, Gina Ward Witt (Allan) of Kirkwood, MO; stepbrothers Derek (Lori) Daniel and Steve (Diana) Daniel; nieces and nephews: Thomas, Allison, Ben, Nathan, Suzannah, Daniel, Melanie and Charlotte and great nephew Jeremiah as well as many beloved cousins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 2PM at Lord & Stephens West Chapel. Burial will follow at Johnson United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday, November 9, 2012 at the funeral home.
