"The purpose of life is not only to be happy. it is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Lisa Kay Solomon passed away suddenly, however, peacefully on October 11, 2016.
Lisa was the embodiment of this quote. She served whole heartedly those she loved and for those of her loved ones. Born on July 21st, 1966 in Douglas, Ga. to Margie and Joe Glen Solomon, she was the second child of three, Jeff Solomon (Jan) of Athens, Ga. and Jason Solomon of Douglas, Ga. Lisa has gone on to Heaven in service of the Lord, our Father. She leaves behind her husband, soulmate, confidante and best friend of 29 years, Leonard (Lee) Aubrey Fowler III, of Athens, Ga., and brother-in-law Chris L. Fowler of Stone Mountain, Ga. and sister-in-law Catherine L. Douthard of Gay. Ga. She is also survived by her step-mother, Martha Solomon and step-sisters Toni Gladin Taylor, of Douglas, Ga. and Terry Odom, of Waynesboro, Ga. She was a very loving and devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews and will be missed dearly. Lisa is a 1984 graduate of Coffee County High School and attended South Georgia College, prior to moving to Athens to attend the University of Georgia. She was an insurance agent, managing Advantage Insurance located in Conyers, Ga. Lisa loved seeking antiques and exploring small boutiques in her spare time, relishing in the treasures she found and shared her passion with others. Lee and Lisa, on many occasions, opened their home to entertain friends and family, Lisa could always bestow the feeling your are welcome, that your are loved. If a family member had fallen ill or a friend was in need, Lisa would tirelessly and without hesitation, provide care, support and comfort, putting the concerns and needs of others before her own. She enjoyed vacationing in the North Georgia Mountains and The East Coast, especially Saint Augustine and Amelia Island, where she could share her appreciation of the local art festivals and music venues as well as meeting and making new friends. She adored her two dachshunds and found joy assisting others with pet adoptions. She touched the lives of so many, she could make us laugh, smile and laugh at ourselves, she had a special way of lifting us up. Lisa's compassion and strength was known to all around her, her bright smile and generosity presented a manner of peace and she shall always be remembered by her charm, warmth and gentle kindness. She would want us all not to move forward with sadness, but to guide one another on life's journey with love, courage and faith.
