Lisa (Chandler) Benton

Lisa Chandler Benton, 45, died August 31, 2011 at her home in Athens.
She was born November 29, 1965, in Athens, Georgia, to Paul and Rachel Chandler. Lisa graduated from Cedar Shoals High School in 1984 and Coastal Carolina Community College in 1986 where she was trained as a Surgical Technologist. Lisa did her internship at the Navy Hospital, in Jacksonville, N.C. She also attended the University of Georgia.
During her nursing career, Lisa worked at St. Mary's Hospital and Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens. She also worked as a traveling contract nurse in several different states including Tennessee, California, New Mexico, Florida, Wisconsin, Texas, Arkansas, Maryland, and Georgia.
Lisa loved to sing and play the piano.
She is survived by her husband, Wyatt Lee Benton; parents, Paul and Rachel Chandler; sister and her husband, Audrey and Mark Garner; and two beloved nephews. She is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Arrangements have been made with Lord and Stephens Funeral Home East in Athens. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 3, 2011, at 10 A.M., with the service to follow at 11:00. Burial to be at Calvary Baptist Cemetery in Athens.
