Athens - Lillian Thornton Powell, 70, died Monday, April 2, 2007 at her residence.
Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Nettie Lou Graham Thornton. She was employed at Southern Mutual Insurance Company for 33 years. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Athens. She was a volunteer at the Oconee County Library.
Survivors include a son, Eddie (Myrna) Powell, of Watkinsville; two daughters, Deanne (Don) Hill, of Watkinsville, Laurie (Jimmy) Powell-Ward, of Roanoke, Va.; one brother, James (Juanita) Thornton, of Liberty, Mo.; five grandchildren, Brent and Brooke Powell, Andy and Brandon Hill, Henry Ward.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 11AM at Central Presbyterian Church with Revs. Bob Bohler and Charlie Cook officiating. Visitation with the family will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, Memorial Garden, 380 Alps Road, Athens, GA 30606.
