Lillian G. Hammond

Lillian G. Hammond, 95, of Athens passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021. Born on June 23, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Linzie E. Elder and Jessie Mae Tiller Elder.

Lillian was a lifelong resident of Athens. She retired as a cashier from Roses after many years and later began working in the Daycare for Cornerstone Church. She was the oldest surviving member of the Whitehall community.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Bert Hammond; her son, Ronald Stacey Hammond; three brothers; two sisters.

Survivors include her son, Ira J. Hammond; a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Watkinsville, GA with Pastors Tim Hammond, Sean Thomas, Tim Boswell officiating. The family will receive friends the evening prior from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Interment will follow the service at Bogart First Baptist Church.
