Lexington - Lila Edwards Shackelford, 101, died Monday, April 19, 2010 at Quite Oaks Nursing Home, Crawford , GA
A native of Dublin , GA , she was the daughter William and Martha Cowart Edwards, and wife of the late Pat S. Shackelford, Sr. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sons: Pat S. Shackelford, Jr. and William A. Shackelford. She was a home maker and member of Lexington Baptist Church . She was a graduate of the University of Georgia , one of the first classes that allowed women at the time.
She is survived by her daughter: Martha A. Shackelford of Lexington , daughters in law: Gayle Shackelford of Kansas , Virginia Sisk Shackelford of Arkansas ; eleven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Monday, April 26, 2010 at 11AM at Clark Cemetery , Lexington , GA , with Rev. Harry Warren officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Clark Cemetery Fund, c/o Lexington Baptist Church .
Lord & Stephens Oglethorpe is in charge of arrangements.
