LH Irwin

LH Irwin, 92, husband of 51 years to Sandra Farmer Irwin, died on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Born in LaGrange, GA, he was the son of the late Looney Hugh Irwin and Cora Bowen Irwin. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Lisa Irwin and several brothers and sisters. LH served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was the owner and operator of Irwin Mahaffey Construction Company. He was a general contractor for over 50 years that spanned across Georgia during that time. He was a commercial/residential pool builder and had a spectacular reputation with cities, counties, and Georgia state parks. Survivors in addition to his wife include three children: Tammy (Mike) Maxey, Wes (Marlaina) Irwin and Homer (Stephanie) Deaton; six grandchildren: Alana, Preston, Melissa, Kelson, Marissa and Allison and two great grandchildren: Nolan and Emmerson. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 2PM at Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Oconee Chapel, 2370 Hog Mountain Road, Watkinsville, GA.
