Leyman Hamlett

Leyman Hamlett, cherished husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2022 at the age of 83.

Born in Atlanta, he was the son of the late Hiram Reagan and Margaret Busha Hamlett. Mr. Hamlett was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and owned Athens Sign Company for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Watkinsville for more than 50 years and was also a member of the Shriners International and the Elk’s Lodge of Athens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Anita Dantzer Watson and his brother, Grady Hamlett.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Judith “Billie” Hamlett; daughter, Donna Hamlett; son-in-law, Raymond Beach; two granddaughters, Ashley Hembree and Amber Hogan and their father, Mark Watson and four great-grandchildren, Adrien Hough, Joshua Hough, Jaxon Hembree and Christian Toole.
