Winder, GA - Levis Harwell Colquitt, 86, longtime resident of Athens, died September 3, 2012.
Born in Oglethorpe County, he was the son of the late David Sidney and Nettie Sue Colquitt. Mr. Colquitt was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law and granddaughter, Carol Ann and Katie Colquitt and sisters, L.E. Johnson, Cecil Huff and Delree Nation. Mr. Colquitt retired as Battalion Chief with Athens-Clarke County Fire Department with 37 years of service and also worked as an EMT. He was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST with Revs. Jeff Lester and David Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Sandy Cross Cemetery.
Athens Clarke County Fire Department will serve as honor guard.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Hardman Colquitt; daughter, Pat (Mike) Sims of Winder; son, Albert Colquitt of Winterville; brother, Rueben Colquitt of Gainsville; grandchildren, Kellie Colquitt, Chris (Julie) Colquitt and Matt (Wendy) Sims; great grandchildren, Luke Sims, Carter Colquitt, Eloisa Colquitt and Johanna Colquitt and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM.
