Lester Lee Cooper

Lester Lee Cooper, 86, passed away November 25, 2013 at his residence.
Born in Marianna, FL, he was the son of the late Walter and Bertha Mae Cooper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Nora Cooper Witherspoon, brothers, Walter Shepard Cooper, King Edward "Big" Cooper, King David "Little" Cooper, Henry Cooper, and Bennie Cooper, and sisters, Corine Cooper and Mamie Lee Cooper.
Mr. Cooper moved to the Athens area from Panama City, FL in 2002. He reaffirmed his faith that same year and until his death was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mr. Cooper was an avid sports fan; as well as an exceptional athlete in his own right which garnered his nickname "Sugarboy" because his basketball skills were so "sweet".
Memorial services will be held Friday, November 29, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Aaron Reinking officiating. A reception will follow the service.
Survivors include his wife, Aron Mae (Allen) Cooper; sons, Gene Cooper and Tommy Bowers (Mary); son in law, Cordell Witherspoon (Julie); grandchildren, Kir Enoch (Jaque), William Witherspoon, Tonja Cooper and Rebecca Witherspoon; great grandchildren, Asim-Malik Enoch-Johnson (Shetia), Gregory Hall, Jr., Layne Witherspoon, Maya Witherspoon, Shaye Witherspoon and Jordan Crawford; great-great grandchildren, Ayonna Enoch-Johnson, Liliana Enoch-Johnson and Jaiden Page.
