Leslie Gammon Phillips, age 88, passed away on August 27, 2015 at her home in Madison, Ga.
She was born in Como, MS on Jan.7, 1927 to the late Leslie Junious Gammon and Sarah Saunders Gammon.
Leslie graduated from Como High School and attended the University of Mississippi where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She married Clyde Bryant Phillips, Jr. Also of Como in 1946. They were members of the Como Methodist Church.
After starting a family Clyde joined the B. F. Goodrich Company serving assignments domestically in the U.S. and then abroad. From 1963 until retirement in 1983 they lived in the Philippine Islands, Australia and Japan. Leslie was the consummate international businessman's wife and a wonderful un-official ambassador graciously accepting that role.
Upon their retirement in Jackson, MS they were members of the MS Seniors Golf Association as well as numerous social organizations and members of Christ United Methodist Church.
In 2012 Leslie and Clyde moved to Madison, GA to live with their daughter and joined the Madison United Methodist Church.
Leslie was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Bryant Phillips and her sister, Jean Roberts of Ocean Springs, MS.
She is survived by her children Clyde Bryant Phillips, III of Melbourne, FL; William Leslie Phillips of Greenville, SC; and Sally Phillips Buffington of Madison, Ga.; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Madison, Ga on Saturday September 5th at 11:00.
September 26 a memorial service will be held at Como Methodist Church in Como, MS at 10:30
Followed by internment at Friendship Cemetery.
