Dr. Leo Stanley Jensen passed away May 23rd, 2018 at his home in Athens, Georgia. He was born on Standhope Farm near Bellingham, Washington. He served in the army, 413th Infantry, 104th Division, in WWII until wounded in Germany on November 22, 1944. He was a Purple Heart recipient and received The French Legion of Honor medal. Dr. Jensen earned his PHD at Cornell University and was a professor of Poultry Science at University of Georgia. He was a cherished grandfather who loved to garden and to spend time with his family. He enjoyed adoring the grandbabies. Our Poppie will be greatly missed.

Dr. Jensen was the beloved son of Peter Hansen Jensen and Magadalena Christensen Jensen. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sylvia Brown Jensen and four children, Peter Jensen (Katrina), Eric Jensen (Rebecca), Kristen Moehring (Jim), and Carol Brightwell (Joe). He is survived by 13 grandchildren, Christopher, Holly, Jay (Kristy), Alex, Lora (Thomas), Juliette (Brandon), Stephanie, Dane, Evan, Ellie, Amy, Jenny, and Duncan, along with 5 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Magda Jensen Gibson. He was loved by his dear caregivers, Deborah, Evett, Isis, Kimi, Rose and more.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 26th, 2018 at 4pm with a visitation prior from 2-4pm at Lord and Stephens East.
