Lennie James Sargent

Arnoldsville, GA - Lennie James Sargent, 65, died November 15, 2013.
Born in Americus, GA, he was a son of the late James Lewis and Helen Florine McCard Sargent and was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Terrie Lyne Sargent. A lifelong resident of this area, he worked for Athens Fire Department for 10 years before beginning his employment as a truck driver with Spencer Industries where he retired in 1997. He was Driver of the Year in 1984. Mr. Sargent and his wife Sheila cooked Wednesday Night Supper for Tuckston United Methodist Church for the past 13 years. He was an avid fisherman and a member of Bishop Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST with Rev. Eric Buffington officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Vince Pearson, Mike Ogle, Fred Fowler, Jason Crosby, John Germany and Ty Jones.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sheila Tanksley Sargent; daughters, Lisa (Kenneth) Bodiford of Arnoldsville and Elaine (Ian) Thomas of Bogart; son, Wayne (Nikki) Sargent of Maysville; sister, JoAnne Jones of Athens; brother, Alva Ray Hale of Florida and 11 grandchildren, including Lexxie Germany, raised in the home.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to United Hospice and caretakers, Vicki Bacon and Enetric Evans.
