Lee Harry Simpson, 77, husband of 46 years to J. Gail Simpson, died on August 18, 2024.
Born in West Springfield, MA, he was the son of Frank Leslie Simpson and Harriet Hubbard Simpson. Lee received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and minored in Chemistry from Bryan College. Mr. Simpson began his teaching career as a high school science teacher in the private school arena. He was well liked among his colleagues and students in the classroom and on field as one of the softball coaches. He then transitioned out of the classroom into customer service, retiring from AT&T and Bank of America.
Mr. Simpson was a devoted Christian and enjoyed serving in church. He and his wife often opened up their home for meals or housing when needed through the church. Mr. Simpson always made family a priority. He attended all of his daughters' athletic and choral events throughout their school years. He enjoyed spending time with family. He was a proud grandfather and spent the last year attending his grandson’s football and soccer games. He was a torch bearer for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics as the olympic flamed traveled through Jacksonville, Florida. He would always say that was his one claim to fame!
Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters: Catalin (Don) Worley and Hannah (Damon) Denton; sisters: Carolyn Simpson, Barbara Price and Debbie Bandis and three grandchildren: Zoe Grace Denton, Timothy Calem Denton and Paul Benjamin Denton.
