Leah Jane Szczepanski

Leah Jane Szczepanski, 19, of Bishop passed away on July 16, 2023. Born on February 11, 2004, she was the daughter of Brian and Alicia Szczepanski.

Leah was a self-proclaimed movie buff who enjoyed staying active, drinking coffee, watching UGA football and playing piano. She loved her friends and family wholeheartedly and was loyal in all aspects of her life. She joined 4-H in the 5th grade and remained active in the organization up until her passing. She fulfilled her dream of becoming a 4-H camp counselor working as a waterfront counselor at Rock Eagle in Eatonton for the past two summers. She competed in the 4-H District Project Achievement, was on the Northeast District Senior Board during her senior year of high school and worked in the state 4-H office. Leah recently became a part of UGA’s Model UN team as she attended her freshman year at UGA and was recently elected as the Director General. She took a special interest in history and geography and loved to share what she had learned with those around her. She graduated from Oconee County High School in 2022 where she was a Varsity sideline cheerleader during her last three years there. Although the years of her life were few, Leah lived an adventurous, fulfilling life.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, James Szczepanski.

Survivors include her loving parents, Brian and Alicia Szczepanski; sister, Lacy Szczepanski; grandparents, Sharon Szczepanski, Michael and Jane Carroll; aunts and uncles, Andrew Carroll (Karen), Susan Dolci (Tony), Mark Szczepanski, Dan Szczepanski (Frances); cousins, Laura, Ally, Nick, Jenna, Zach, Emma, Lily, Abby, Mia and James.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 11:30 AM at The Catholic Center at the University of Georgia with Father Brian McNavish officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. A reception will immediately follow the service at the Szczepanski residence.
