Athens - LaVonne Marie Potochnic, 62, wife of Jim Potochnic, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at her residence after a 13-year struggle with ovarian cancer.
Born in Flint, MI, she was the daughter of the late John Steven and H. Arlene Sternaman Pasternak. LaVonne had worked as a Nurse for 40 years and retired from Hawthorne Medical Associates, Athens, GA. She was a Communicant of St. Josephís Catholic Church, Athens, GA where she was a member of CRHP.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; daughters, Jennifer Potochnic of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Meredith Potochnic of Seattle, WA; son, Kenneth Potochnic of Perth, Australia; sisters, Sharon Pasternak of Athens, GA, Pat and her husband Richard McClintock of Dublin, CA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 11AM at St. Josephís Catholic Church with Father David McGuiness, celebrant. Visitation will be held Friday, June 16, 2006 from 6-8PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.
Memorials in lieu of flower arrangements may be made to VistaCare Hospice or Loren Smith Center for Cancer Support (Athens, GA).
