Born at Fort Gordon, he was the son of Shirley Ann Everhart Thurmond of Carlton and Dennie E. (step mother Joy) Thurmond. He was a carpenter.
Survivors include his son, Laurence Allen Thurmond Jr. of Carlton; daughters Brandy Reigh Thurmond of Hull and Erica Graham of Athens; brothers Dennis James Thurmond of Hull and Danny Hall of Florida; sister Regina White of Ohio; granddaughter CheyAnn Bryant; nephews Gavin and Gryphon Thurmond.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2009 at the funeral home.
Lord & Stephens East is in charge of arrangements.
