Laura Diane Gillespie

Laura Diane Gillespie, 78, died on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Piedmont Athens Hospital.

Born in Jay, FL, she was the daughter of the late Freddie Gillin Moore and Lolly Vera Hawthorne Lambeth, sister to the late Wanda Cain and Jackie Therrell and great grandmother to the late Valerie Gillespie. Mrs. Gillespie received her degree in nursing from the Mobile Infirmary School of Nursing in Mobile, AL and worked in the nursing field for 44 years.

Survivors include her three children: Heather (Kelly) Lester, John (Erica) Gillespie and David (Josh) Gillespie; sister: Elaine Dearman; grandchildren: Brianna Martin, Patrick Gillespie, Samantha Martin, Nathan Gillespie, Matthew Gillespie and Katrina Gillespie; great grandchildren: Caden Eichholtz, Tristan Eichholtz, Mia Eichholtz and Ru Gillespie and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 4PM until 6PM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel.
