Larry Edward Thompson

Larry Edward Thompson, 70, of Greensboro, passed away on October 23, 2022, Born on January 10, 1952, he was the son of the late Edward Thompson and Mattie Ann McElhaney Thompson.

Larry was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Larry married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life.  They lived in Tennessee, Oklahoma and later settled in Georgia.

Larry loved his family, dogs, football, fishing, camping, and hunting.  In his younger years, Larry enjoyed playing the guitar with his wife and daughter.  He also loved classic cars.   After spending most of his career in the corporate world in automotive cataloging, he received his certification and spent many years as a property inspector.   Larry was a strong man but had a soft heart.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dewayne Teal; grandparents, Alfred & Viney Jane Thompson, Hastings & Floley McElhaney.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Vicki Thompson; daughter, Laura Smith (Michael); grandchildren, Ethan, Regan and Bryson Smith; sister, Patricia Thompson Redd; brothers, Jimmy Thompson (Donita), Tracy Teal.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, 1211 Jimmy Daniels Rd., Watkinsville, Ga. The family will receive friends the evening prior, Thursday, October 27, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
