Larry E. Snipes of Watkinsville passed away after a long illness on Saturday, May 28, 2022. He was born on November 4, 1938, in Marion County, S.C. and was the son of the late Thomas Earl and Irene Rogers Snipes.
Larry was a graduate of Clemson University, class of 1961. He was a member of Watkinsville First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of NARFE and a former member of Athens Rotary Club. Larry retired from the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA, as the State Statistician for Georgia, located in Athens, GA. He served in the state offices in North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia, and the agency headquarters in Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Patsy; son Earl Snipes (Jennifer) and Wesley Snipes (Traci) of Watkinsville, GA; and his daughter Lauren Magaldi (Chris) of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Also grandchildren Jacob Snipes, Lily Snipes, Wren Snipes, Jacie Snipes, and Benjamin Snipes of Watkinsville; Ellie Magaldi and Claire Magaldi of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Alyssa Heitman (Jamie) of Beaufort, SC and Brandon Wyatt of Athens. The family also would like to thank Whitney, Carletta, and Michelle as caregivers from When Kindness Means More.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Lord and Stephens Oconee Chapel in Watkinsville officiated by Rev. Emily Whiten. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
