Athens - Larry Randolph Fort, 71, died May 28, 2012.
A native of Portsmouth, VA, he was a son of the late Vivian Randolph Fort and Virginia Jessup Fort Reese.
Mr. Fort retired after many years in law enforcement, including Border Patrol Immigration and Naturalization from 1995 until 1997, Deputy with Wilkes County Sheriff's Department and Chief of Police with Tignall Police Department from 1990 until 1994. Mr. Fort was also employed as a Patrolman with the Watkinsville Police Department, as well as a security guard at a casino in Las Vegas.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, May 30, 2012 , 6:00 PM in the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST with Rev. Franklin Shumake officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM until service time.
Survivors include his wife, Penny Fort; children, Neal Edward Fort (Darla) of The Woodlands, TX, Larry Michael Fort (Carrie) of Tucson, AZ and Cassandra C. Fort of El Centro, CA; Dennis Elliott of Chula Vista, CA and Heather Penland (Robert) of Watkinsville; siblings, Sandra Lunceford, Kay Dykes, Ann Smith, Cathy Milligan, Joan Taylor and Spence Reese, all of Watkinsville; grandchildren, Annie Fort, Jackson Fort, Miles Fort, Michaela Fort and L. J. Fort; step grandchildren, Sean Elliott, Robert Penland, Andrew Penland and Emily Penland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary' Hospice.
Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
