Athens - Cary Lamar Thomas, 49, died March 27, 2006 at ARMC after three years of declining health.
He was the son of Joseph Allen Thomas of Colbert, Edwina Fambro T. Hollis of Hull and also survived by his stepmother, Mariam Baker Thomas of Colbert and stepfather, John D. Hollis, Jr. of Hull.
He was a former construction worker and most recently a handy man at the farm he loved so much, The Greene Farm. He attended Madison County Schoolís, played Sanford Little and Senior League Baseball and enjoyed Georgia Football and NASCAR Racing.
He is survived by brothers; Ronnie Thomas who has been missing for 23 years, Byron Thomas of Florida, sisters; Linda Suzette Bales of Atlanta, Amy Paige Strehler of Hull, step grandmother, Fannie B. Hollis of Athens, three step brothers and two step sisters, three aunts, a number of nieces, nephews cousins and many friends who loved him and his kind gentle ways and generous giving spirit. He enjoyed being with his many friends as often as he could. He loved and cherished all of them. Special friends include Mr. and Mrs. Bill Greene, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Hayes and Cynthia and Charles Luke just to name a few.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 4PM at Lord & Stephens West Chapel with Rev. Geoff Rushing officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 PM.
