Lamar Rondall "Ron" Mize, 72, died June 22, 2012.
A native of Athens, GA, he was a son of the late Lamar H. and Lois Glosson Mize. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-eight years, Gaynelle Roling Mize and his sister, Martha Jordan.
Mr. Mize graduated from Athens High in 1957 and served in Korea while in the United States Army from 1957 until 1961. For many years, he was employed as a consultant for placement of overseas work in men's apparel operations. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, enjoyed playing golf and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen (Greg) Sartain of Danielsville, Robin (Greg) Crump of Watkinsville and Marie (Matt) Maier of Watkinsville; two sisters, Nida (Melvin) Duane of Winder, Linda Dixon of Bogart; brother, Wayne (Carolyn) Mize of Hull; seven grandchildren, Heather Whitehead, Jason Whitehead, Adam Sartain, Aaron Sartain, Allison Maier, Kaley Maier and Josh Crump; two great grandchildren, Hunter Crump and Alisia Crump; a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Matt Maier, Greg Sartain, Aaron Sartain, Adam Sartain, Jason Whitehead and Josh Crump.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 25, 2012 at 11:00 am at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST with Dr. Robert H. Bohler, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Mr. Mize's wife, Gaynelle.
Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
