Lexington, Ga - Lamar Bridges, Sr, age 94, of Lexington, passed away, Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at his residence.
Mr Bridges was born on July 24, 1912 in Oglethorpe County to the late George Washington and Sara Mahulda Bridges. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Lou Bridges, a grandson, Lowell Davis, six sisters, and a brother. Mr. Bridges was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church and was retired from the Oglethorpe County Schools, where he was the Bus Shop Superintendent. Mr. Bridges served his country in the Army Air Corp during WW II.
Survivors include his two children, Kay (James) Bridges Nicklow and Lamar (Sheryl) Bridges, Jr. Of Lexington. One sister, Edith Hulmes of Crawford, and one brother, Lanier (Jeanette) Bridges of Lexington. Six grandchildren, Kirstan (Russell) Wise, Philip (Kristi) Davis, Meghan Davis, Kerry (Melinda) Bridges, Kim (John) Messer, Jason (Kelly Burger) Bridges. Eleven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Friday, October 20, 2006 at 11:00 am, at Crawford Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Epps officiating. Visitation will be Thursday evening, October 19, 2006 from 6 till 8 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Crawford Cemetery Fund.
