Kurt Arthur Knisely, 80, of Statham passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Born in Brooklyn, New York on October 14, 1941, Kurt was the son of the late Durbin Knisely and late Janet Estance Anderson, and stepfather, Ralph Ogden Anderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers.
Kurt was the CEO of Kenco and Associates for 30 years. He dedicated his life to the service of others through his church, growing the sport of lacrosse, Rotary Club, and the Salvation Army. He was dedicated to God, family, and community - passionately helping those in need. A lacrosse All-American at Adelphi University, Kurt was the head lacrosse coach at both Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia. He was inducted into the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2017.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Knisely; children, Kurt Knisely (Karla), Alaini Stamatopoulos (Peter), Kristopher Knisely (Stephanie), Matthew Knisely (Amy); grandchildren, Alexandra, Kurt, George, Alexander, Grayce, Kristopher, Nicholas, Evia, McRae, Alaini; and great-grandchild, Robert.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at St. Philothea Greek Orthodox Church (3761 Mars Hill Rd, Watkinsville, GA 30677) at 11:00 AM with Father Anthony Salzman officiating. Interment will follow the service at Oconee Memorial Park. The viewing will be on Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Lord & Stephens West Chapel. Following the interment, all are invited to his celebration of life at St. Philothea.
In lieu of flowers, donations in remembrance of Kurt may be made to St. Philothea Greek Orthodox Church or to the Kurt Knisely Lacrosse Foundation at PO Box 676 Watkinsville, GA 30677.
