Kevin Swafford, 38, of Colbert, GA, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015.Born in Floyd County, GA, Kevin was the son of Douglas and Joyce Puckett Swafford. He grew up working in his parents' store in Dallas, GA. Kevin graduated from Berry College, where he met his wife of 16 years, Deanna Swafford. He is also survived by his son Hunter. Other relatives include his parents-in-law Bill and Kathryn Cain, sister-in-law Kristin Cain, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins in the Puckett and Swafford families. Kevin's hobbies included spending time with his family, playing Magic the Gathering and video games, and helping with his son's Boy Scout troop. He loved to hang out at Beef O'Brady's with friends and was a fantastic cook. Kevin will be remembered for his straight talk, his warm manner, and his sarcasm and love of all things geek. His culinary and piano talents will be greatly missed, but most of all his love for his family and friends. A short graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, April 4th, at Yorkville Cemetary located at 6273 Highway 101 N, Rockmart, Georgia 30153. The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 PM on Friday, April 3rd, at Lord and Stephens East Funeral Home, 4355 Lexington Rd., Athens, GA 30605. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the YMCA of Athens, GA (athensymca.org); to iCan Shine, Inc (icanshine.org), a program that offers iCan Bike programs for people with disabilities to learn to ride a bicycle; or to Stardust Equestrian Center, Inc (www.facebook.com/stardustequestrian), a therapuetic riding program in Madison County, GA.
