Local friends, family, and professional associates mourn the loss of Kevin Jean Cain, born April 22, 1953 in Greeley, Colorado. Mr. Cain stepped into eternity on October 16, 2015, having made Athens and the surrounding counties his home since 2009. Kevin Cain was the son of the late Jean T. and Marguerite E. Cain of Denver, Colorado. Siblings are Tim Cain, deceased, and survived by Chris Cain of Manitou Springs, Colorado, and Teresa Lumiere of San Raefel, California.
Mr. Cain was highly recognized as a child prodigy by music professionals, dating back to childhood honors, a few noted here: Most Promising Keyboardist- Grade Four National Competition, First Chair Trombonist - First Grade and forward, Stars of Tomorrow Winner - 1969, President, Cincinnati Theater Organ Society-1980-88, World Performing Artist for Baldwin Piano and Organ Company, 1978-1989, Sound Designer, Baldwin Piano and Organ Company- 15 years, Pipe Organ Builder and Voicing Specialist - Wurlitzer (Gibson), Studio Musician and Arranger, Rotary International Performer of the Year, Mexico City World Convention, 1981, Radio City Music Hall Headliner on several occasions . Mr. Cain was also a licensed pilot.
Locally, Mr. Cain served as Board Member, web designer and musical performer for friends and adopted family with Women to the World, a mission to at-risk widows and orphans. In addition, one of Mr. Cain's greatest joys was performing for many of his Oglethorpe County friends at 3 Railroad Street, Arnoldsville and other musical venues in the surrounding areas. Mr. Cain was best known by his friends and associates as exceptional in kindness, availability, gentleness of nature, and generosity with moral excellence. All who knew Kevin Cain mourn the loss of a Godly man of faith and humility.
A Memorial Service will be held in Kevin Cain's honor on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm, Lord and Stephens East, Lexington Road, with a dinner and musical celebration of Mr. Cain's life to follow at 5:30 pm, 3 Railroad Street, Arnoldsville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Cain had requested that donations made on-line to his Memorial, www.womentotheworld.org, will be designated for the local GED and Literacy Program, PALS Institute, Athens, for underserved women and children. Friends will gather at 3:15 pm at Lord and Stephens for a time of reflection prior to the Memorial at 4:00 PM for Mr. Cain.
