Kermit Jeffers, 81, died May 23, 2012.
A native of Low Gap, TN, he was a son of the late John R. and Lyda Robbins Jeffers and was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph L. Jeffers of LaFollette, TN. Kermit served four years in the United State Air Force.
A 1958 graduate of Tennessee Tech, Kermit taught school in Clinton, TN and served as Assistant Principle of Clinton High School. He came to the University of Georgia on a science grant and went on to obtain his graduate degrees. He retired in 1988 as Assistant to the Dean of the Graduate School. After retirement,
Kermit returned to Tennessee and taught for one year. For many years, Kermit sang gospel music at area nursing homes. He was a member of Winterville United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 25, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. The family will receive friends Friday from 11:00 am until service time.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Jeffers; four children, Gary (Lynne) Jeffers of Danielsville, Bruce (Kimberly) Jeffers of Winterville, Tony (Gaye) Jeffers and John (Lisa) Jeffers, all of Watkinsville; brother, Kenneth N. Jeffers of Huntsville, TN; special friend, Arvis Blakley; special cousin, JoAnn Culver; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Winterville UMC, Whitehall Baptist Church or St. Mary's Hospice House.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
