Charles Kenneth Smith, born December 31, 1941, passed away on March 12, 2025, at the age of 83. He was the son of the late George Albert Smith and Mary Blanche Smith.
A proud graduate of Oconee County High School and the University of Georgia, Kenneth dedicated 30 years of his career to the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine before retiring. He also served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1964 to 1979.
Faith was a cornerstone of Kenneth’s life. A lifelong member of Watkinsville First Christian Church, he faithfully served as a Deacon and found great joy in singing in the church choir. Kenneth was an avid sports fan, cheering passionately for his beloved Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lt. Col. George Donald Smith and his sister, Carol Toney, brother-in-laws, Rev. Chuck Brumley and Dwain Toney and his niece, Melissa Smith.
He is survived by his sister, LaVerne Brumley, his brother, Roger Smith (Ann) and sister-in-law, Raye Smith. His nephews and nieces - John Brumley (Julie), Charla Reed (Mike), Gina Waters (Dave) and David Smith and many great nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. Visitation and a service to celebrate his life will be held at Lord & Stephens West on Sunday, March 16th with visitation 2-4pm followed by the service at 4pm. Pallbearers will be Eddie Anderson, Leo Baker, Jimmy Butler, Bob Cain, Eddie Hardigree and Randy Peterman.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Watkinsville First Christian Church.
